Dr. Steve Blizzard addresses' The Texas Fruit Growers Association, Kerrville, TX, Nov. 14, 2008

Dr. Steve Blizzard, Director of Farming, for the Lagomarsino Farming Group of Visalia CA. delivered a three hour talk dicussing many aspects of Texas horticulture production. Blizzard addressed the main topic of diseases of stone and pome fruit plauging the growers of Texas. Texas with it's high summer temperatures and humidity presents unique disease problems for it's fruit growers.

Discussions included the strategies for pesticide or chemical controls as well as organic measures that could be employed to control these summer diseases. Blizzard also discussed tree training, orchard design, fertilization and planting techniques. The fruit growers were treated to a second session where Dr. Blizzard conducted a question and answer session that covered all areas of fruit production.
